A highlight was visiting with Janet's cousin, Rebecca.
We started the day visiting Nestlé, which will close in June with their move to VA. We visited with Sheila Ralston, and I got to say hello to several friends - Rita Henderson, Molly Dell Omo (who recalled for Janet my copy-editing favors for the Communications Dept), and Juliet. We then had lunch with Jose, and here we are with Rene as well. Prior to the lunch, we strolled down Brand Blvd looking to see if we could find a store with a watch band for me. No, and we ended up throwing away that watch anyway after it stopped working when it got wet on the ship.
We drove to visit Janet's cousin Rebecca and her husband Philly. They lived in a quaint Pasadena neighborhood, and their home was built in 1904. Eclectic art and treasures on display from their travels and special interests.Janet hadn't seen Rebecca in decades and it was fun to reconnect and exchange LOTS of family stories.
That's my final photo of the day. We left their home at about 4:15 so that we could make it to the Basque restaurant in Corona where we had arranged to meet Staci and her mom at 5:30. Well, this turned out to be a real story: During texting between Janet and Staci as we were stuck in traffic, we learned that Staci did not want to eat at the Basque restaurant after all, and claimed that we were supposed to be meeting at our motel and then decide where to eat. My print-out of directions were only to the Basque place, and Staci had previously agreed to let us follow her from there to our motel in Norco (thus, I didn't bring along directions of how to get to our motel). So, we told Staci that we still wished to eat at the Basque place as she had agreed. She then said to forget seeing her at all, that she never had wanted to eat there!
So, Janet and I did eat there, and loved it. It had long been a Basque center, and even had a jai alai court out back. We used Janet's phone's navigation app to find our Norco motel. We offered to still visit with Staci and her mom at the motel once we got there, but they both said no. So, our long-planned visit with Staci evaporated away.
